Buena Vida Celebrates 35th Anniversary with a Bright Future

Celebrating the anniversary of its not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC)

West Melbourne, Florida (August 25, 2017) — Buena Vida Estates celebrates the 35th anniversary of its not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) and outlines a future in which adults aged 65 and over will have access to more health, wellness and spiritual services within the retirement community
“Although our resort-style and family-oriented community has become known as one of Florida’s premier retirement communities over the last 35 years, we at Buena Vida realize there is still so much more to offer our residents,” said Karin Lautenschlager, Executive Director.  “We are now experiencing “Baby Boomers” making Buena Vida their home.  They understand the importance for planning for their future and protecting their estate from the rising cost of long-term care.” said Doreen Boudreau, Director of Marketing.
Buena Vida’s expansion, completed in October 2009, nearly doubled the size of the community and included the addition of 27 apartment homes, 32 private assisted living apartments, 16 specialized memory care apartments and a physician-directed health center named The Sullivan Health Center.  A quaint Main Street area was added to offer even more resort-style activities and amenities, such as, a game room with dance floor, bistro cocktail lounge, country store, library and computer lab and full service hair salon. “Because we are a not-for-profit organization the money goes back into the community enabling Buena Vida to stay fresh and modern” said Lautenschlager.
“We are currently 94{099636d13cf70efd8d812c6f6a5a855fb6f8f27f35bea282d2df1d5ae896e2c2} reserved and occupied,” states Boudreau.  “People have recognized the value that Buena Vida represents and the need to plan ahead. Response to our premier Continuing Care Retirement Community program has been so great that we are building an extensive waiting list.  Buena Vida has a reputation of providing its residents with a high quality and stress-free independent lifestyle. We contribute part of that success to the long-term employment of our caring staff — we have employees that have been with Buena Vida for 32 years.  This longevity reinforces the family atmosphere our residents enjoy on a daily basis and contributes to the fact that we have residents who have lived here for more than 20 years. ” said Lautenschlager.
Buena Vida has a physician’s clinic under the direction of our Medical Director, Stephen Giorgianni, MD – Geriatrics and Dermatology specialty and Kristine Murphy, Nurse Practitioner.  Glenda Mazza, Director of Health Services explains, “We have expanded our rehab facility by contracting with Restore Therapy as our Physical Therapy provider, Jody Foster, Audiologist with the Florida Eye Institute, Dr. Marie Clair Villanueva for Podiatry, Dr. Alejandro Espaillat, Ophthalmologist, Eye Clinic  & Laser Institute and Jessica Regan, Onsite Dermatology. We have massage therapy with Karl Lubbers. All of these require appointments. Buena Vida’s Walk-in Clinic is supervised by Linda Musser, LPN”.  “Residents receive on-site Flu, Shingles and Pneumovax vaccinations and ongoing health & wellness programs”, says Mazza.
“We are pleased that our residents now have the choice to receive their medical care within the community they live in” adds Lautenschlager.
Lautenschlager explains that the Buena Vida lifestyle addresses the “whole person” and meets their physical, social, intellectual and spiritual needs.  For example, Buena Vida dedicated the Jay B. Carter Memorial Chapel in April 2011. This non-denominational Chapel offers our residents Sunday Vesper Services, which enables all faiths to be able offer services to our residents.  Other services include a state of art gym with Exercise, Yoga & Tia Chi classes.  Outdoor activities include bocce, shuffle board and water exercise in the heated pool.  Residents enjoy the Florida Institute Life Long Scholar program which includes classes discussing contemporary topics to further enrich their lives.  Clubs include: social media, water color, computer, photography, sewing/stitching/quilting, bridge, nature, and creative writing to mention a few.
Buena Vida has partnered with ITG Realty, LLC to assist people with the sale of their home. This unique program enables a resident to move to Buena Vida before their home is sold and gives them the peace of mind knowing that if their home does not sell within 18 months of their move, ITG Realty, LLC will purchase the house from them.
Buena Vida has been awarded “Best Continuing Care Retirement Community of 2012 — West Melbourne” and is a 27 year Diamond Member of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce and the BEST Retirement Community by Florida Today 2014, 2105, & 2016.
