COMPANY: Welsh Construction
LOCATION: Melbourne, FL
Welsh Construction, LLC of Melbourne was founded in 2003 by owner and president, Ken Welsh, who has decades of commercial construction experience. The company provides construction and design/build services in the retail, office, medical, restaurant, educational, storage, religious and municipal sectors throughout Florida. Welsh promotes the “team” concept with both employees and customers alike, and strives to “build relationships for life.”
For both Welsh and the construction industry, 2016 was a busy year in Brevard County and the East Central Florida market. And, 2017 appears to be on a similar track. Welsh doubled their staff over the last year and just started construction on their new headquarters in Melbourne on W. Eau Gallie Blvd., near the Sarno Road intersection. The 10,000 square-foot complex will house the offices of Welsh, Shane Smith, PA and offer lease space for other retail/office use.
Welsh is regarded locally for construction of religious facilities such as the Calvary Chapel complex in West Melbourne and Calvary Chapel Viera. Currently, Welsh construction signs can be seen at projects all over the county, including Shoff Insurance Center and Dr. George Roque medical expansion in West Melbourne; Coral Reef Academy on Nasa Boulevard, Melbourne; Terry Laboratories, West Melbourne, and Brevard County School Board design/build renovations at Saturn and Fairglen Elementary and Kennedy Middle Schools. A self-storage facility is also underway in Sanford where Welsh recently completed the StorQuest Center and Integrative Animal Hospital.
Welsh Construction is a fully-qualified, licensed, insured and bonded general contractor. The team includes executive members Gary Goodwin, chief estimator, and Chris Norton, director of economic development – both well known in the construction sector – along with experienced project managers, estimators, superintendents and an office manager. ◆
