Leaders with Ethics
Florida Tech and Harris Partner for 11th Annual Conference
Do business leaders stop to consider the effects of their decisions on others? This is the question administrators and professors at Florida Tech’s Nathan M. Bisk College of Business had when making Business Ethics an integral part of its undergraduate and graduate curricula almost three decades ago.
Since 1997, Florida Tech has conducted an annual Ethics Competitions for local high school students featuring prominent business and community leaders as judges. Given the link between ethics and leadership, this year’s conference has been expanded to include renown national and local businesspeople sharing and opining on these and other topics relevant to the development of other ethical business leaders, at all stages of their careers.
Highlighting this year’s event is keynote speaker Rich Luker, author of Simple Community, which explores the need for people to gather as a community to simply have fun and enjoy each other without an agenda or work objective. For more on Luker, see this months “Q and A” on page 68 or read Kristen Bakke’s “Community Leadership” column on page 80.
