As a 16-year-old attending Eau Gallie High School, Ericka Heinly started working for Pizza Gallery & Grill as a carry-out server; at 17, she began serving.  When Pizza Gallery moved to The Avenue Viera in October 2005 they added a full bar, and by the age of 20, Ericka had begun training as a bartender.

Q. Briefly describe your occupation. 

I entertain the guests while exceeding their expectations with delicious drinks, great service and a friendly smile.

Q. Does your job require any special certifications or training?

On-the-job training and Safe Serve Certifications.

Q. What inspired you to go into this field?

The money, flexible scheduling and advancement opportunities within the company.

Q. What do you enjoy the most?

There are many things I enjoy – the great regular clientele I have, keeping up with the trends of the industry, and making people laugh.

Q. What’s the biggest challenge?

Dealing with already-too-intoxicated guests.

Q. What is the biggest misconception about what you do?

That I am a therapist.
