Name: David L. McKay

Children: David, 16 and Ryan, 15, both students at Viera High and avid baseball players.

Years in Brevard: 21 years. I grew up in Philadelphia and moved to Suntree in 1990.

Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Penn State University, 1984.

DO YOU SOCIAL NETWORK?

I have a Facebook account only to keep track of my kids.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR JOB?

First, the talented people I work with. Second is the variety of my job: sales, product development, project management, and production, as well as the opportunity to travel the globe.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

Personally, raising my children … professionally, continually growing the business with new products and services in uncertain economic times.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU’VE DREAMED OF DOING BUT HAVEN’T YET?

Starting a foundation to raise funds for autism education and research in honor of my friend’s child, Jordan Locke.

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE AND WHY?

My parents, Lowell and Arlene. Raising me was not easy and they are still working on it; they always pushed for me to do my best.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HAVE BEEN YOUR KEYS TO SUCCESS?

Passion and competitiveness … and surrounding myself with great people. You can’t do it alone … and never settle for mediocrity.

WHAT WOULD MOST PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I have a huge autograph collection, primarily baseball but a wide variety of others. The collection will go to charity one day.

WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT?

Every Apple product: iPOD, iPhone and iPAD.

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT?

San Francisco (great city with Carmel and Napa close by) and anywhere in Italy (we have an office in Florence and I have visited Rome and Sorrento).

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

Travel to baseball tournaments/showcases and the annual lobster hunt in the Keys with my children.
