Why did you choose your profession?

I never cease to be amazed at how the capital markets serve the entrepreneurial and investing public. It is a central tenet of capitalism and free enterprise. I am very fortunate to have both a business and engineering background, which gives me the strong analytical skill sets that are needed in this business.

How does Morgan Stanley support diversity in the community?

The firm is committed to expanding its presence in diverse and multicultural markets through recruiting and supporting its employees in markets in which they live and work. Diversity is a core value to the firm.

As a financial advisor, what advice do you believe is the key to your clients’ success?

Investing is a marathon, not a sprint. Allow the power of compounding to build your wealth. Be prudent and patient. Rich rewards may come to those who practice good investment habits.

Why is involvement in nonprofit organizations (like the many boards on which you serve) important for business leaders who are already juggling chaotic, busy schedules?

We may seem busier than we really are. As business leaders we must remember that all members of society are not as fortunate as many of us are. The ultimate economic goal of society is to help in reducing disparities by engaging business and civic leaders to work together in addressing the needs of its citizens. Philanthropy and volunteerism are essential qualities that enable successful people to work for the greater good of all. It is a debt of gratitude we owe to society for the opportunity given to us.

Indian culture is recognized worldwide for being industrious and entrepreneurial. why is that?

The law of supply and demand influences human endeavor all over the world. Indian people in general are taught the virtues of hard work at a young age. The value of a strong education is also emphasized. In a country that sees great disparities, the average citizen understands the values of hard work and values opportunity.

India is the second most populous country in the world. With a population of 1.2 billion and a growing middle class, the supply/demand relationship is in strong competition. India has more than 50 percent of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65 percent below the age of 35. It is expected that in 2020, the average age of an Indian will be 29 years, compared to 37 for China and 48 for Japan. (Source: Wikipedia.)

When you’re not working or serving on a board, what would people find you doing or be surprised to know about you?

I have a lifelong love for music and the arts as well for history. When I am not involved with one of the nonprofit groups I volunteer with, I am scripting entertainment shows, researching history, previewing music or reading.
