Ralph Perrone began his career as an entrepreneur at the young age of thirteen. He has now been a property manager for 27 years and owns and manages 260,000 square feet of buildings.
It is something that came naturally to the rest of his family; all three of his children are entrepreneurs with their own businesses.
“I see them do a lot of things they learned from watching me over the years,” Perrone said. His son, Ralph Jr., owns Perrone Realty; Jason started Perrone Photography; and his daughter, Jessica, is opening her own family therapy office.
His business philosophy is centered on the book Raving Fans by Ken Blanchard, an idea focused on creating raving fans rather than just satisfied customers. “I want all my customers/tenants to be so happy they can’t wait to tell their friends about my business,” he explained. “Great customer service is very important.”
He hasn’t done it alone. Perrone acknowledges his wife of 35 years, Cindy, as a critical part in his success. “She organized me, ran the office and raised three great children.”
Perrone’s advice to entrepreneurs who are getting started: “Respect your gut feeling. Owning your own business is not a 9-to-5 job and don’t be afraid to take
a calculated risk,” he said. “I love what I do. I think it shows in me every day when dealing with others.”
