For fourth-generation Brevardian Thomas W. “Tom” Weinberg, banking, real estate and public service are in his blood. His great-great grandfather, A.G., was one of 37 men to incorporate the city of Cocoa. His grandfather, Morris, was a local banker who served on the council and as mayor for the city of Cocoa during the 1920s. Weinberg continued this tradition, working in local, state and federal government positions. He has remained focused on supporting the local communities and the businesses that serve them.

As director and shareholder of Fidelity Bank of Florida, he is well positioned to continue doing just that. Like Weinberg, Fidelity Bank of Florida’s roots run deep here. It is locally owned and operated, and the oldest community bank in Brevard. President J. Lamar Roberts explains that the bank has a guiding motto: “We’re large enough to serve you and small enough to know you.” As a preferred and certified Small Business Administration (SBA) lender, Fidelity Bank specializes in small business lending and understands that these business owners need capital to succeed.

In addition to his role with Fidelity Bank of Florida, Weinberg was elected as the District 5 Commissioner for the Canaveral Port Authority in 2010. He has been an officer on the board each year, three as chairman. During his tenure, the Port’s budget revenues have grown from $47 million to $100 million with an economic impact of $2.1 billion annually.

As commissioner, Weinberg has ensured the Port’s commitment to environmental stewardship through his leadership and support of initiatives like Keep Brevard Beautiful, Jetty Park preservation and lagoon restoration. Weinberg’s wife, Linda, an attorney and former Public Safety Administrator for Orange County, recently declared her candidacy for his seat, which he is vacating at the end of this year.
