EXECUTIVE: Todd Smith, Senior Director of IT
LOCATION: Headquartered in Orlando, FL
Goodwill Industries of Central Florida recently named Todd Smith as Senior Director of IT. In this role, Smith oversees technology at 60 facilities across Goodwill’s six-county footprint, including retail stores, Job Connection Centers, Donation Xpress Centers, administrative and warehouse locations.
Having previously outsourced the IT function, Goodwill recently brought it in-house. Smith is charged with building the department’s goals, structure, staff and standards. Under Smith’s leadership, the nonprofit can further optimize technology throughout its sales, mission, transportation, distribution and e-commerce functions.
As technology continues to change the face of retail, Smith is focused on adopting best practices to drive the organization’s mission forward. He is implementing cloud-based collaboration systems that allow the nonprofit’s 1,200-person staff to communicate quickly and seamlessly across multiple locations.
Whether connecting job specialists across counties or providing real-time data on retail performance, these tools help the Goodwill team work more efficiently. The goal is to reach even more Central Floridians with barriers to employment, providing resources and connections to help them find meaningful work.
Smith joins Goodwill with more than 25 years of management experience, including six years in a senior management role at Publix Supermarkets, where he was responsible for all networking and security systems. Before that, he worked for Channel Intelligence which was acquired by Google, as senior manager in charge of the infrastructure to run display ads and e-commerce delivery.
A Central Florida native, Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Management Information Systems and Computer Science from the University of Central Florida. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration. ◆
