Leases airport facility and land for immediate and future growth

MELBOURNE, Fla. (July 24, 2019) – ARES Defense Systems, Inc., a historically small arms and outdoor gear design and manufacturing company, is expanding its business to Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) with plans to enter the aviation and aerospace industries. At this morning’s board meeting, the Melbourne Airport Authority approved a lease with ARES for an existing 25,200 sq. ft. airport building and an option to lease over 4 acres of airside property for a future corporate hangar.

The airport facility being leased aligns perfectly with ARES’ strategy to support the aviation and aerospace industries with design and manufacturing. The property, located on Woody Burke Drive, is surrounded by aerospace giants including L3Harris World Headquarters, Northrop Grumman, Collins Aerospace, Thales and more.

“We provide an environment where both companies entering the aerospace industry and companies already established in the industry can come to MLB and grow,” said Greg Donovan, A.A.E., airport executive director. “We are elated with ARES Defense’s decision to join our extraordinary network of aerospace and defense tenants. They will fit right in.”

“Expanding to Orlando Melbourne International Airport is the perfect move with our plans to enter into the aviation and aerospace industries,” said Geoffrey Herring, president and CEO of ARES. “We considered many other locations throughout the USA for expanding our operations and business opportunities, but ultimately decided that MLB was the best choice for us due to its business friendly environment, great airport facilities and management, other local defense and aeronautics companies, and the skilled workforce residing on Florida’s Space Coast.”

ARES will be also just a minute away from American Airlines’ nonstop flights from MLB to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), a vital route connecting the airport’s neighborhood of defense contractors to the nation’s capital. In addition, American Airlines’ nonstop flights to Philadelphia will upgrade to daily beginning December 19, and can already be booked at AA.com.
