In October of 2010, the CPA firm Hoyman Dobson merged with the southern regional accounting firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram. This wasn’t the first time Barbara Oswalt saw the accounting firm’s name change. When Oswalt helped establish the Melbourne-based firm in 1984, it was called Hoyman, Oswalt & Kirk, PA CPAs – a nod to her and her fellow founders.
Right out of law school, Oswalt’s accounting career began at KPMG LLP in Columbus, OH. She continued to advance her professional knowledge, becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). With nearly 40 years’ experience, Oswalt is the tax and business valuation director, leader of the manufacturing and distribution practice team and active litigation consultant to the legal profession. Living most of her life on the Space Coast, raising two daughters and working in the local accounting industry, Oswalt has a deep knowledge of the people and businesses in the community and sincerely cares for developing its economic growth, especially in the manufacturing sector. “I’m an advocate for our clients and love to help them structure their financial transactions in order to minimize tax obligations,” said Oswalt. “Being able to recognize opportunities that save my clients from unnecessary taxes and that maximize their profits is most rewarding.”
