Originally from South Carolina, James Barfield made the move to the sunshine state as a high school student and attended the University of Central Florida before settling in Polk County. As a tax manager at Cross, Fernandez & Riley he provides tax compliance and planning services to the firm’s clients. Barfield works with a diverse mix of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, retail, restaurants and wholesale and distribution. His familiarity with various business structures and companies of all sizes allows him to serve multi-state operations, family owned businesses, start-ups and high net worth individuals.
Barfield is deeply involved in the growing Polk County community, serving as treasurer of Explorations V Children’s Museum and local nonprofit, Top Buttons. He is also a member of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and EMERGE Lakeland. He loves spending time with his wife and three kids, bass fishing and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Jennifer Gavrich is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Valuation Analyst, prestigious designations that aid her in the role of senior associate in the firm’s forensic accounting and litigation support practice. She assists her clients with various matters including general litigation, divorce litigation and bankruptcy. Additionally, she has published articles and presented seminars on fraud, valuation and internal controls. She is active in the Young Lawyers Section, Florida Business Law Section, Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida and the Central Florida Bankruptcy Association.
She is also passionate about community involvement and mentoring. Her membership with the Junior League exceeds six years, most recently serving on the Orlando Chapter’s finance committee and MAGIC (Mentoring Adolescent Girls in the Community) committee. As a University of Florida alumni, she is the treasurer elect of the Central Florida Gator Club. Gavrich also co-founded an emerging professional women’s networking dinner group earlier this year.
