Melbourne, FL Junior Achievement of the Space Coast (JASC) and General Electric (GE) volunteers have teamed up to teach JA programs to students at 2 therapeutic schools, Riverdale Country Day and Horace Mann Academy.  JASC received a grant in the amount of $7,500 to support the implementation of JA financial literacy and workforce readiness programs in these 2 therapeutic schools during a JA-in-a-Day event at each location.  The grant was awarded to JASC by the General Electric Foundation.

Annually, the GE employees volunteer to present the JA programs in these classrooms.  “For these youth, this is something positive to look forward to and learn from, according to Tambre Clark, Executive Director, JASC.  “The GE volunteers are always warmly welcomed by the students.  This is the 7th year they’ve volunteered at Riverdale Country Day and the 3rd at Horace Mann Academy.  They have already requested we come back next year.”

JA of the Space Coast used the grant to implement the JA programs in classes including the purchase of the JA program materials for all of the classrooms.  For more information on JA programs or to volunteer to present a JA program in a local classroom, call (321) 751-4024.
