Business Hall of Fame to Induct Pam Gatto and Jack Ryals
Junior Achievement is the largest global nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. Locally, through a dedicated, diverse network of Brevard County volunteers, Junior Achievement of the Space Coast (JASC) provides in-school and after-school educational programs and competitions for students that focus on three key content areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Last school year, JASC reached more than 9,000 students in Brevard County and will likely impact over 10,000 students this year. JASC volunteers gave more than 60,000 hours to Brevard County youth through JASC last year, which equates to an economic impact of $1.5 million to our community.
Through an innovative partnership between the business community, educators, and volunteers, JASC helps young people build a bridge between what is learned in the classroom and how it is applied in the real world. JA inspires students to develop competitive skills and confidence. Their success bolsters the local workforce and contributes to economic growth. JA empowers Brevard County young people to own their economic success.
JASC Business Hall of Fame
Since 1986, Junior Achievement of the Space Coast has annually recognized Brevard County’s most esteemed leaders at the JASC Business Hall of Fame induction gala. This year’s laureates are Pam Gatto, president of Gatto Tires and Auto, Inc., and Jack Ryals of National Realty.
Nominees demonstrate a record of business achievement, including business excellence, courageous thinking and actions, vision and innovation, inspiring leadership, and community-mindedness. In addition, nominees must serve as a role model for those who follow. Stated more simply, Business Hall of Fame laureates are individuals whose work has moved American society in a better, stronger direction.
JASC has inducted such notable individuals as Joseph H. Wickham, Jesse J. Parrish, Jr., W. Lansing Gleason, B.W. “Bernie” Simpkins, Dr. Maxwell C. King, Joseph Duda and John Hopkins into its Business Hall of Fame. Notable laureates from the Space Coast, Wayne Huizenga of Blockbuster Entertainment Group and Al Neuharth of USA TODAY/FLORIDA TODAY, went on to be inducted into the JA USA Business Hall of Fame.
The 2014 event will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne. There will be 350 guests in attendance, including business and community leaders, teachers and school administrators, and the future leaders of Brevard County – the JA students.
