National Experts Bringing Leadership Development to Brevard

We are the ones….and you can be too…who lead by example…who cast vision and offer hope.  The 2010 Chick-fil-A Leadercast (formerly Maximum Impact Simulcast) provides our community with the opportunity to develop leaders at all levels.  LEAD Brevard, together with The Boeing Company and Chick-fil-A local support, is bringing the Leadercast to Brevard – a day of leadership that inspires – Friday, May 7, 2010.  This year’s opportunity to hear 10 internationally acclaimed leaders in one inspiring day represents the tenth anniversary of this life changing event and the speaker line-up reflects it.

Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, How the Mighty Fall and co-author of Built to Last; Tony Dungy, retired head coach for the Indianapolis Colts (in a pre-recorded presentation); and Ed Bastian,  president of Delta Airlines are three of the 10 thought leaders who will speak at the May event.

Other influence leaders for the event include: John Maxwell, author of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership; Mark Sanborn, author of The Fred Factor; Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS Institute, Inc.; Ben Carson, neurosurgeon and professor of pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; Steve Uzzell, corporate photographer and former staff member of National Geographic; Connie Podesta, expert in the psychology of human behavior and leadership development; and Chip Heath, author of Made to Stick, columnist for Fast Company and Stanford professor.

The Chick-fil-A Leadercast is a one-day leadership training event broadcast live from the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta to approximately 500 host sites throughout the nation.  Locally, the event can help you build relationships in our community and offer a leadership training opportunity for your team.  At the 2009 event for example, Parrish Medical Center and several law enforcement agencies sent department members to the day as a teambuilding and leadership exercise for the group.

Despite what many think, leadership is not a “top down” concept.  It is cultivated with humility and discipline.  It merges the passion of the heart with the ability of the mind.  The Leadercast will inspire you and equip you to live this kind of leadership.

“The event provides extremely valuable leadership insights from world-class communicators,” said David Hoyt, vice president of Giant Impact.  “It’s a rare opportunity to hear these experts within your own community and simultaneously develop business relationships with other local leaders.”

At the May 7 event speakers will address a variety of leadership topics including:

  • How to converge people with organizational purpose
  • How to overcome personal and professional adversity
  • How to embrace change
  • The keys to building strong teams
  • Best practices for balancing the needs of customers, employees and company shareholders

“The Leadercast is a rich source of ideas, insights, and strategies for truly effective leadership,” said Ed Emma, president and COO of Jockey International, Inc.  “The event serves to translate the most complex leadership dilemmas into basic principles and memorable lessons that we can apply in our daily work.”

Boeing Florida Operations site director, Kevin Hoshstrasser says, “We are proud to support this opportunity to bring valuable leadership training to Brevard County leaders and to inspire and renew those that make important decisions in our community every day”.
