Community celebrations and opportunities to give back will kick off the new school year

Melbourne, Fl July 27, 2020 – Melbourne Square announced today four events to help parents, students and teachers get ready for fall learning. While Back-to-School may look a little different this year, Melbourne Square is ready to help the community prepare to be back in the classroom with a Tax-Free Weekend August 7 until August 9, a “Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive occurring from August 3 until August 16, a Teacher Appreciation Event on August 15 and a Back-to-School Party on August 15.

Guests are invited to shop – tax-free – online and at Melbourne Square during Tax-Free Weekend August 7 until August 9 to enjoy extra savings on all their Back-to-School shopping essentials.

More than ever, we applaud and appreciate the teachers in our community. As a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to all of our educators, we are pleased to host a Teacher Appreciation Event on August 15 at 1:00 PM near JCPenney’s. Teachers will receive a free painting class with Painting with a Twist, drinks, snacks and giveaways.

Melbourne Square is excited to collect school supplies for Harbor City Elementary School through a “Stuff the Bus” drive. When you shop at Melbourne Square from August 3 until August 16 you can bring a donation of Markers, Crayons, Dry Erase Makers, Colored Pencils and more to support local students in need.

“Melbourne Square recognizes the unique challenges families and educators are facing as students head Back-to-School this fall. Through Tax-Free Weekend and our Teacher Appreciation Event, we want to give everyone in our community the opportunity to save on their back-to-school shopping and support the important role our schools play in driving the future of our city,” said Alisha Kish, Marketing Director. “Our Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive is one more way for Melbourne Square to support the community by giving back in a meaningful way to ensure every student has the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom.”

Melbourne Square’s KidX Club is throwing a Back-to-School Party for all ages on August 15 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. The event will feature entertaining activities such as Mad Science Fire and Ice Show and will provide an opportunity for kids to have some fun with family, friends and future classmates before the school year kicks off.

Melbourne Square remains focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. In the continued need to address COVID-19, the town center has proactively implemented additions to the Code of Conduct, effective immediately and until further notice.

These additions include the following guidelines:

· Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.

· Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover is recommended.

· Do not gather in groups.

· Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.

· Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates regarding COVID-19.

The Code of Conduct is posted at the Center and available online.

Melbourne Square’s already rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices will also continue many times per day, including periodically disinfecting areas most susceptible to the spread of germs. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are located in highly trafficked areas and walkways for public use.

These events are the latest examples of Melbourne Square’s engaging programs and events for the community. This is just one example of parent company Washington Prime Group’s commitment to creating a true gathering place for the community where guests can not only shop, but also have new experiences and celebrate seasonal traditions together.
