MARRIED: Yes, to Greg for 13 years

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR PROFESSION?
I’m a second-generation financial planner and started in the business almost 20 years ago alongside my father, Joseph Flammio. I’ve had the privilege to grow up in this industry and witness its many changes, challenges, and transformations. I’m fortunate that my career is also my passion.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I most enjoy working with my clients. I’m lucky to have the chance to work with so many interesting people and I love getting to know them and their families. Having strong relationships with them really helps me understand what matters most to them, and how we can work together. There is no greater compliment than when a client introduces me to a client or a friend.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?
The economic environment continues to be volatile, which means I have to stay on top of what’s happening and how it can affect my clients each and every day. Things change very quickly, and I have to be able to react to the challenges and new opportunities.

WHAT TRENDS DO YOU SEE EMERGING IN THE FINANCIAL PLANNING INDUSTRY?
Technology is going to continue to change the industry. Our clients have access to so much more information today than ever before. However, that information may not always be well delivered or understood. I believe the industry will become more about developing long-term relationships than focusing on the day-to-day fluctuations of the market.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THE YOUNGER VERSION OF YOU TO DO DIFFERENTLY?
I would tell myself to get out in the community and get involved. I was lucky to be mentored by a number of great women in the area who helped me get involved in a variety of organizations. If I had to do it all over again, I’d be even more active. It’s a great way to meet people and learn more about what makes Brevard great.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BUSINESS GOING IN THE FUTURE?
I am very happy that my business is quickly growing. I look forward to expanding my practice even more.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE THE VARIOUS ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN YOUR LIFE – IN AND OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I have an amazing team, supportive friends, and a very understanding family. I’ve found that “Balance” is a daily challenge.

WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF PROFESSIONAL ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
“Don’t take any wooden nickels.” I have never forgotten this. The Desiderata is one of my favorite “go-to” reads for inspiration. The other best piece of professional advice is also my mantra: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
