Raul Quintero, a junior infielder playing baseball at Florida Institute of Technology, attended Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla., where, as a sophomore, he helped his school team win its first district championship in six years. In his high school career, he earned four varsity letters and made all-conference 2nd team. After graduating, he moved to Melbourne to attend Florida Tech in pursuit of both a baseball and academic career. With a well-known baseball team, a school filled with coaches and professors who believe in and challenge him, and the beach just minutes away, Quintero is in the perfect environment.
Quintero has made it a priority to progress on the field, and last year he was awarded All Sunshine State Conference 2nd Team as a sophomore. He has been studying accounting and has taken rigorous courses such as intermediate accounting and corporate finance. The best part of being at Florida Tech, he admits, is spending quality time on and off the field with teammates and building new relationships. His family has been a huge inspiration throughout his baseball and academic career. Without the guidance of his parents, who pushed him to surpass his wildest dream and goals, he admits he would not be the person he is today. His brother, who Quintero considers his best friend and mentor, has also played a big part in his success.
