After earning her degree in communications and public relations, Erica Lemp knew her love for working with people would be a major factor when deciding on a career path. Once settling on the Space Coast, she went to work with LEAD Brevard, where she spent six years. She followed this with a five-year stint with CareerSource Brevard. In each role she assumed prior to coming on board with weVENTURE at Florida Institute of Technology, where she now serves as executive director, it was clear that not only did she have a talent for bringing people together and forming connections, but also a particular passion for supporting and encouraging young entrepreneurs.
Even before coming on board, she dedicated much of her time to the company, having volunteered as a mentor with its IGNITE 360 program. Today, she is able to exercise her skills in event planning, community relations, and creating and managing programs and workshops in the pursuit of weVENTURE’s ultimate goal: empowering female entrepreneurs to succeed through low- or no-cost services and trainings. “Working within the Florida Tech Nathan M. Bisk College of Business grants weVENTURE an amazing opportunity to incorporate business education and resources to our startup community,” explained Lemp.
By connecting and educating women in business throughout Central Florida, Lemp has been able to work directly with people to help them achieve their goals. “Growth and change are difficult,” said Lemp. “To provide guidance to businesses and individuals as they grow and transform is to directly contribute to their success.
Lemp also serves on several boards that keep her active in the community in her spare time, including the Brevard Schools Foundation. She also serves on the United Way Board of Directors as the Emerging Leaders Committee Chair.
