PNC Financial Services Group Inc. created the Women In Power luncheon series with the intent of raising awareness for community organizations that support the development and empowerment of women.  PNC selects and partners with local community organizations that share this mission, and together host a series of luncheons featuring notable national and international women.

In Brevard County, PNC has partnered with the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Florida Institute of Technology and LEAD Brevard, with the proceeds raised at each luncheon alternating between each organization.

The WBC utilizes a 350 degree approach to providing women with the opportunities, tools, and connections to advance their global influence and success.  The WBC provides training, counseling, mentoring and technical assistance focusing on entrepreneurs and women-owned small businesses.

LEAD Brevard is a preeminent leadership organization convening leaders to address the challenges of the present and the future through community leadership programs for youth, young professionals and executives.  LEAD Brevard combines world class leadership skill enhancement with firsthand insights into Brevard’s assets and challenges.

Last January’s Women in Power luncheon honored actress Morgan Fairchild.  Besides being a well-known actress Fairchild is also a public supporter of AIDS research, the pro-choice movement and environmental issues.

In February, the luncheon hosted Lina Abirafeh, a gender and development practitioner and researcher, who spoke on the topic: “Violence Against Women: What We Can Do.”  And in April, former Massachusetts Governor Jane Swift was the featured speaker.
